Walter Cronkite as a test tube baby? Disruptive tech!

Nujobi.com qrcode
If only Walter Cronkite could read the News again, would you believe it?
Oh sorry, Walter is not with the Huffington Post so why would you? After all he actually was paid money to be a journalist. Call us @Nujobi naive but there was something of great value in a person you can trust that delivered the News so many years ago. The audiences of past wanted to trust someone in the middle of the disruptive decade of the 60's.

[[Nujobi is a media company focused on sydicating content to the new content engines such as Netflix. Nujobi operates a News and content marketplace connecting content creators and publishers efficiently. We build technology that deploys new and traditional publishers to the tablet and future digital screens. All content gets a fair opportunity in a fair marketplace that weighs the best value for both sides of media buying equation. Our technology and serviced media publishers generate advertising revenue and our customer generated content becomes more valuable as we serve more sides of the media distribution paradigm.]]

So I guess that is why Nujobi.com was created to be disruptive in a disruptive time. We think that people are hungry for trust and not very different today. Call Nujobi.com a test tube marketplace for journalists and the next trusted sources, we believe there may be many. We also believe that the "human" objective computer is best to deliver the News, after all you cannot teach compassion or passion to a computer. We also recognize that the traditional News business has been in decline for a long time. Uncompensated reporting or algorithmic reporting represent the value of their cost.

Writing on this subject today is particularly important. I encountered four very important bits of information that knocked me over and should knock everyone over that is concerned for humanity today.

First I had the opportunity to see a very interesting description of a start-up in the News space.
Narrative Science transforms data into stories and insights. Our proprietary artificial intelligence authoring system, Narrwhal, produces reports, articles, and summaries that are automatically created from structured data sources. Narratives are created in multiple formats, including long-form articles, headlines, Tweets and business reports helping customers save time and money by combatting data overload, time constraints, cost restrictions and scale issues.

Second, I attended a start-up breakfast in Brooklyn, NY this morning. I asked a few simple questions regarding "What value do current start-ups bring to society" and was meet with some very angry defensive comments. Past experience has shown that when people become so angered over a question there usually is something to hide.

Third I had the privilege of spending some time with the head of compliance at one of the trading markets whom happened to be visiting NYC. They expressed to me their concern that corruption in the markets was so deep and was strategically not reported by the media their only commentary was, "Lets just hope that God can step in".

Fourth: the twitter news!

Building a Team without a Mirror

Nujobi.com Great companies are definitely made up of great people. What I noticed about the character of people that become the great team members is the following.
Send your resume to Mark@nujobi.com Be sure to download our app "NUJOBI" and "NewsHotBox" IOS and Android. Nujobi is a marketplace for original content and a media company buying content, register on www.nujobi.com and try it before applying for this FOUNDER EQUITY position
For one they have not found a team yet to be a part of, so they find your opportunity exciting and hopeful. They have not been given the opportunity to shine prior and they believe me when I tell them sincerely that I see something in them. Third they have more skill and ambition than I could ever have, I just happen to see the greatness in people.
So Nujobi.com, (a not so successful yet company), is looking for these types of people. In my past businesses I can say that the people that have passed through have accomplished a great deal including being honored by the United Nations. Most others just went on to run businesses that mirrored what I taught them regarding delivering quality and performing cost effectively. I am lucky to have worked with so many people that have gone on to achieve so much. Management and the time of the moment means a great deal to your character. I think running a company is a character builder. You build your own character and you transfer some bits of your character to the people that are counting on you. More about nujobi.com
When I am looking to work with people, as I am now. I first look for the desire ,second the need to work, and third the vision in their eyes. For years I was in the mirror when hiring, looking for the "just like me" people, but then I took a look at the data. Every person that had impacted my bottom line was nothing like me. They were the hero's that made decisions despite of my direction. They stood up to me when I was wrong and they stood with me when I was right. This all took patience and tongue biting and time, but the trust you build lasts a lifetime. Right now I want the same thing. I want people smarter than me and different from me. I need people that see beyond the "Yes I share your vision". nujobi.com
Here is a list of a non-list
1.Sincerity
2.Seeking a unique opportunity
3.Brilliance and vision.
4.Available
5.Focused
6.Self motivated
7.Their own values in order, whatever they might be, their business, but some values
8.People that do not participate in power struggles, people innately independent
9.People that can follow the leader and grab an arm to caution the road ahead
10.Honestly imperfect
qrcode Just to note : People have their own ambition and they probably won't work for me forever. Maybe some of them will, and I will manage the company to provide as much security as possible. It is nice when people that worked for me tell me that they will work for me anytime, just call. That is a great to hear, unfortunately skill sets matter very much also. I have often pushed people into new skills and they have made careers from them. That is also good but right now I am in the News Marketplace business and I need a productive skill set. Maybe I can take time to re-train some of the people from my past in the future but not right now.
I have had people work for me that have become a Catholic Priest, a corruption fighting Mayor in Slovakia , three major public sector contractors, owner of a mortgage company, 2 international film stars, etc. I had nothing to do with what they became but I certainly gained by employing them. Of 500 plus employees over 30 years 500+ taught me everything I know and they are my motivation.

Nujobi a "Pleasant Habitat for Success"

Just have a great laugh as I have had. Like in Yoga when you empty the stomach of bad content and bad air life gets more clear.

While I ready for the next blog entry enjoy this chicken dance from Arrested Development.

AD has inspired me far beyond just laughter. The way AD communicates with so much witty inuendo, the way the writing is put together and the goal it accomplishes is amazing. For Nujobi I believe it is an epiphany and a path to understanding how to deliver information and how to deliver the news. Arrested Development takes you away but also brings you its message clearly.

Nujobi won't be doing any comedy, but in terms of company and customer service culture, I believe Nujobi should strive to be a Pleasant habitat for success. To do this we need to send people home with more than a smirk or a plan to exit the company in the future. We need to let people share our goals and grow the Nujobi business with their creativity. We will not arrest anyones development and we will smile at the results. Whether it is a publisher, producer, an editor, or a journalist selling content, we will try to get them to success in a pleasant way.

Smart enough and dumb enough!

Big News Nujobi just presented at "The Hatchery" start-up event at Rockefeller center in NYC. Our presenter was , yours truly , me , Mark Nejmeh. In all the years I have run a business I know exactly what I am good at. I am great at motivating people, great at hiring and managing people, great at business strategy, and of course great at product development. I really suck at presenting to an audience and paperwork. So with this blog I am here to report that I was "DUMB ENOUGH" to do the presentation to 4 seasoned VC's. Its ok , I mean I was completely scatter brained and did not my get my business plan across and I really stunk up the place.

Smart Enough, Yes I am "SMART ENOUGH" now to have been looking for a CEO and I think maybe I have one lined up. If not this person then I have a few more ideas of who might fit. The main criteria I am looking for in a CEO is great leadership, capable of handling the big picture, the politics, strength in character, honesty, blah blah, and a Great Presenter. <\p> I think I found a great CEO and in fact a great person with deep concern for doing right for this great company (Nujobi). Time will tell, but one thing for sure I will not be making many more 5 minute pitches unless I really have to.

I like employees that get the job done including when I am the employee. Think of it this way, I would rather write the song than perform it.

Did you call them a liar?

If truth was capital how much would you be worth, what could you buy.. Would you really be looking for funding, would I? Right now no one is monetizing truth translated into trust. Nujobi the business believes truth is in shortage and there is great value and profit to gain. Getting the truth out is not always the easiest thing but it matters. It matters especially in news and in moving humanity forward. If we cannot trust the news we cannot trust tomorrow or yesterday for we formed opinions based on what we learned. The news was the original search engine and it is as broken as any form of information platform. Even search engines are using proprietary algorithms that are trying to think for us, give us what we want, or what they want us to want.
At Nujobi we aim to change and profit from truth in News. We aim to bring new opportunities to creating content of truth beyond sales pitch. We aim to put the value of the news back into the formula that defines a forward culture across all borders.

How?
1.Nujobi brings all information flow to its value destination into a marketplace.
2. It promotes ease of use and efficient market purchasing of content.
3. It facilitates seeking articles and placing content for promotion.
4. It brings opportunity to new publishers with the pulse on audience needs.

Nujobi is the ultimate monetizer of content

We make money from commission on sales of content, from advertising, from syndicating news we capture first and publish on our own. We will expand to all forms of media including radio, television, syndicated production and new avenues like education collaboration and entertainment. We are an aggressive company with one basic idea , treat people truthfully and make sure people are profiting as we profit,

The winners in the News Media will be the purveyors of trust.

With traction forward Nujobi can profit huge. Our final goal is to challenge the brands that have destroyed themselves and be the defacto of truth.

How to get Klout

So You Married An Entrepreneur | Charles Lee

Amazing article of truth on marriage, entrepreneur habits and security and oh yeah that goes for employees too. Employees expect a leader and security, much like a wife. They beg for stability and most entrepreneurs cannot give that to them in the beginning without funding. I as an entrepreneur am here to change the world and if that means being alone well then unfortunately, so be it. I have been divorced for 13 years now and it has been a struggle. Try building a house, paying for kids, and being a great Dad all while spending mega dollars on new technology and in the Patent office. Not too easy. Don't think I cannot love because I can, I love my kids,I would love someone, I love myself and my vision, and I love the fight to the top. I have learned enough about life to "let life take me and not try to take life" Many Thanks to the author for writing this article.

Many start-ups are a collection of a group of friends, all unmarried, no kids, and they party in the office. That is clearly not what Nujobi.com is like now nor will it be as we grow,so if you ever come to work at Nujobi.com leave your nerf ball and gymnastics at home. Most of all finish your work and go enjoy your family.

Learning from pitch night at Ultralight Start-ups
Last evening I had the privilege of seeing the heart and soul of some great entrepreneurs. I went to a pitch event hosted by Graham Lawlor at the Microsoft building at 1260 6th ave, New York, NY The companies that presented won't be mentioned but I can tell you I definitely learned from all of them. Yes, I really did , right here on this self entrepreurial therapy, called a blog just say that I LEARNED SOMETHING. It is like an awakening to not have my usual know it all , arrogant attitude. I am free! I think there is a curse when at a very young age you can conquer all and have money gushing from your ears. The first thing you learn when you make it to the top is that there really isn't much at the top if you are there alone. Isolation after success can really drain your soul. I think that is why VC's insist on a team to forge ahead. No one person can do it alone , at least not building a company that will last a very long time.

News happens where you are.

Why Nujobi is a great service and how you can DO IT!
My God there is news everywhere. How many times do you see the same thing over and over again? But it does not have to be that way. How many of you do not want to watch the news?

Nujobi features you may know of or not?

Tunnel vision at Nujobi.com

TUNNEL VISION is Good

RULE ONE: when you have a start-up , listen to your gut regarding your business model.
We just got (REJECTED) turned down by former CEO of CDNOW, Mike Krupit GM, of Novotorium Langhorne, PA
They are an incubator that helps start-ups get started.
But we got some cool advice from someone that has been there.. Here is what they said

Mark,
Thanks again for applying to Novotorium.
The team reviewed your application this morning. We appreciate the video content and your vlogs on YouTube to help inform us and support your application. We know a lot of sweat has been put into Nujobi.com and your desire to bring it further into market.
At this time, however, Novotorium is not positioned to help and we cannot accept your company.
We like the concepts of grassroots and crowd-sourced journalism. I even had once co-founded a company in a similar space, but that failed to get as far as yours perhaps because we were too early. That being said, advertising-based business models are extraordinarily difficult to grow organically. I am sure you are feeling that pain. Novotorium's focus on is products and services that we feel can grow without large up-front investments. Give Nujobi's market and model, Novotorium is not positioned well to help.
I wish you the best of luck in moving Nujobi.com forward and will keep you in mind if there is ever a way for us to help.
Best regards,
Mike Krupit

We know rejection is part of being a visionary, if others could see what we can, we have no edge.

NYC and NUJOBI

Trying to manage a full perspective on where the Nujobi business model stands takes a view outside of my own world. What I think might be important , may actually not be. In terms of why I created Nujobi, here are my thoughts.
One thing for sure people definitely want a voice , hence the massive success of Twitter. Twitter is the newest example of people looking to the internet to get a little control back into their lives.

After another Sunday of NFL football where a majority of men and women find the necesary distractions to continue on in their lives and suffocate stress with joining the team, drinking, betting, and eating. Most people are definitely set for the week ahead.
This Monday will be a big celebration for The Big Blue in NYC since they won their game yesterday. Few people on the streets realize the potential for major disruption to their lives that is likely to come from the collapse of the Euro and or Dollar. As a matter of fact most Americans feel isolated , as they should, until the problems directly affect them and their family. More and more people are taking the approach of complacency going through the motions at work just trying to get through another day and back to their homes , their food, their drink, and hay just a few more days till another playoff game.

At Nujobi I see it differently, I see and feel something coming, It's not good. Venture capitalists are now viewing mental illness as the next big arena for profit, and no wonder. As exemplified by the following email I received from Sramana Mitra sramana@sramanamitra.com

Here are a few lines that was recently in an email sent to me by this venture capital opportunist. The intellectuals have taken over the world so look out!

"In my 15+ years in Silicon Valley, I have observed the evolution of few $100B+ market opportunities. Today, I am going to draw your attention to one that could be exactly what the doctor ordered for the stagnating economies of US and Europe. There has always been a stigma around mental illness. Yet, 10 percent of the U.S. population is mentally ill. And if you extrapolate from that number, it is conceivable that worldwide, 700 million people are mentally ill."

So what does this have to do with Nujobi

Nujobi.com , the website and the app for Android and for Iphone are intended to be proactive tools not reactive tools to avoid further decay of journalism and further development of mental illness Yes I am saying that "work is a cure" to mental illness. The main difference between Twitter and Nujobi is that you really have to WORK to put together good salable content. Twitter is great for the simple "I said It" but Nujobi is great for "I worked hard for it , here it is, good content, pay me!"
I hope we are on the right track. I will be working NYC to do some journalism work and also to build some traction by meeting with potential partners, and journalists. Nujobi is a Job Creator and I think teaching people how to use the software is my job.
Thanks, Mark Nejmeh

Nujobi.com wait... is it any good. What am I doing?
Cold Sweats in the nite
I don't think its abnormal to question yourself on what you are doing especially when living on eggs and toast three meals a day. The nights seem so much more logical. I am under pressure because we have a variety of responsibility to deal with . Mainly trying to figure out how to get some traction. How to make this a viral technology that people can earn money with. That is our challenge and that is why I could not sleep.
Nothing that listening to Dean Martin on the Ipod can't solve. I almost said Walkman Haha

Nujobi
"The supporting Algorithm and potential for licensing"

When I set out to create a marketplace for content that would be effective I knew that it would have to take into consideration all market forces. Many years ago I was a large purchaser of industrial products so I had a fairly firm understanding of the many pitfalls of most marketplaces that were operated by humans. The first thing I knew way back in 1992 was that an auction would bring greater efficiency to most markets. In 1993 , I created auctionquest.com , a broadcasting marketplace. I was never able to attract investment for my company and I was basically forced to go back to construction after a short stint as a CTO for a Monsey, NY firm trying to bring medical billing and coding to the internet. There I developed the concept for the "anonymous medical record" . Shortly afterwards my pay($170,000 per year) was cut in half and I was terminated on my Fortieth birthday.
Unable to face my beautiful wife, (now my ex-wife), that at this point hated my guts for being a risk taker, I drove to Palisades Park, NJ and stood on the street with illegal aliens and took day work in construction. There would be 200 of us and we would get free lunch and $75 for the day. In a short time business owners shocked at my building talents and how the workers trusted and were learning from me began approaching me trying to speak in broken Spanish. They were shocked to learn that I have built much more than they ever had and could build technology also. I think they were most shocked that I also spoke English. In short order, they found it appropriate to send me on my way. Not by my choice I was back as a contractor within three weeks fully booked with work. Just about every person I stood on the street with wanted to work with me.
I learned something important about markets during that time and value. That experience was part of my education and enabled me to implement this algorithm, the Nujobi Algorithm.

Re-inventing the News Industry

Today is the big day for the Rose Bowl. I will be heading to "Darcy's" of Bradley Beach, NJ or Probably "Bar A" of Belmar, NJ to watch the game. I filmed the following video two days ago and I have to say I really hate it. I think its important to be able to improve from watching a performance. At 51 years old you would think I would have more competence in these things. The truth is I gave up being a very good salesperson many years ago. I did not value salesmanship. At 16 years old I was the number one shoe salesperson nationwide for Kinney shoes on the week before Easter. I thought I was great back then in 1977. I think I would like to revisit what I knew about presentation.
On the technical side of the business, Jie is working on adjusting our tablet publishing functions. We want to have more control on who can publish. Our goal is great quality publications while still providing low cost start-up to committed publishers. If you have been to the site you will see that we are still in beta. I can't really move away from that until I feel it is really a viable technology. The only thing we need right now is a small investor so we can survive.
I am pumping up the volume and I plan to communicate our struggles daily.
Hey , please download our app "nujobi" I phone and android. And also "News Hot Box" I phone
